What gets you MOVING?
That has become a very important question to me lately.
Let’s get this part over with, WHY? Why – your goal, my goal, the thing I want, the thing we are shooting for… yeah yeah yeah – you better understand how important that is by now. But what about those days – you know the ones.
Those days… when you’re tired. When you’re worn out. When you’ve been busting your ass for days and days and you feel like nothing it breaking the way you want it to.
What gets you going on THOSE days?
2 things:
- Habits. If you’ve established habits then your actions are going to habitual. My man Brendon Burchard will tell you though, showing up is important – but showing up with enthusiasm and presence is a whole other reality.
- Rituals.
I was tired this morning. Traveled all week, habits were suffering, broken down a bit by the most recent injury from snowboarding, wrestling with life and those responsibilities…
BUT – my habitual breakfast and morning routine includes the following:
- alarm – and I hit the snooze button! (yeah – the dreaded snooze button!) But instead of just falling back to sleep, I make a conscious, concerted effort to ask myself: “What am I thankful for right now?”
- This gives me 5-10… sometimes 15, minutes of sincere, deep gratitude first thing in the morning. I’m thinking of and concentrating on the things that make me HAPPY to be alive FIRST!
- Stretching (and water) -get the body alive, awake. Feel what’s going on in the joints. Awareness in the moment
- Meditation – 20-30 minutes of calm, focused, intentional thoughts going in and resting in my head!
- Breakfast and a movie!
- Motivational movie… geez! Today, something weird happened. First little 5 minute flick just didn’t resonate with me. Then, only like one tiny part of the second one… I kept going! Third one (the one I’m sharing today) – that one resonated and motivated and got me moving!
The point is folks, FIND and implement what works for you.
Establish, maintain, and grow your morning routine so that you live an intentional day! And never, ever stop pursuing your path. By the way, FINDING your path of part of that pursuit!
Have a GREAT day!
Thanks Clay,
Mornings routines are so important. They can get you started right or wrong, and you get to decide!! Being in the right frame of mind to start with will always make the day go better.
Amber. 😉
I agree totally Amber, obviously! 🙂
What are YOUR routines? Any good hacks or shortcuts or additions I may want to make?
